The Friends of the Signal Mountain Library is an organizational board that successfully supports the Library by raising funds for materials and programs. Members meet quarterly to review Library needs.
The chief fund-raiser of the Friends is the Book Nook, our used book store that is open whenever the Library is. The Friends stock and organize the Book Nook, located in the lower level of the Library. Volumes for the store are provided by donations from the community plus books weeded from the Library’s collection. Once a year on Labor Day, The Friends holds a Half-Price Book Sale, where great bargains can be found. Usually shoppers are lined up waiting for the door to open for this sale, which both provides revenues for the Library and also cleans out the used book collection, readying it for reopening in mid-September, fully restocked. (Please note: The Half-Price Book Sale for 2015 will take place during the month of July to clear space for renovations scheduled to begin in August.)
The Friends is a vital component of the Signal Mountain Library. Funds raised by the Friends’ projects are used to pay for special children’s programs during the Summer Reading Program, to buy movies for the Library collection, and to support special needs of the Library.
