“The mission of the Town of Signal Mountain Library is to provide the community with a core collection of recreational, educational, and informational library materials and technology resources; to assure ease of access to materials; and to provide programs that stimulate awareness and use of library resources.”

Membership:

Library cards are free to residents of the Town of Signal Mountain. Children may obtain their own Library card when they reach the third grade. The library currently has just over 4,500 members.

People who live outside the Town may obtain a Library card by paying $70 a year. Payment of this fee entitles every member of that immediate family to use the Library for a year.

Policies:

Patrons may check out books and books on tape or CD for 2 weeks at a time. Movies may be checked out for 1 week. Books and movies may be renewed once as long as they are not on reserve for another patron.

Fines:

Overdue books accrue a charge of $.25 a day and overdue movies are $1 a day.

Computers:

Patrons may use one of three computers located in the Reading Room of the Library. Each patron must sign a computer use policy form, and parents are required to sign for their children. There is a $.25 per page charge for printing from the computers.

Copying:

A copy machine is available for patrons. The charge is $.25 a page.

Wireless Internet:

The Library is equipped with WiFi. Patrons, who wish to use their own computers, may obtain the WiFi password by showing their Library card.

There is a large room on the Library’s lower level that may be reserved for group meetings.
