2014 Summer Reading Program Schedule – Fizz, Boom, Read!

Kids’ Summer Reading Program

All events are going to be held at the Signal Mountain Library except for the trip to the Signal Mountain Playhouse and the Final Event which will be held at the Signal Mountain Swimming Pool.


May 27 – 11 a.m. :Registration – Children ages three through 6th grade may register for the programs, listed below, which will each last for about 45 minutes. Parents are asked to remain with their children.

June 3 – 11 a.m. : The fabulous Bandana Babes are coming back to kick-off our summer spectacular with their contagious sing-along program.

June 10 – 11 a.m. : The Terpsichord dancers from GPS will teach movement and perform for our young ones. Children are encouraged to come in their tutus or leotards for this fun event.

June 17 – 11 a.m. : Swamp Things from the Tennessee Aquarium – Education director Bill Haley will bring some fascinating critters for this program.

June 24 – 11 a.m. : Magician James Agan will return to wow us with his clever magic tricks.

July 1 – 11 a.m. : Signal Mountain Playhouse – We will walk down to the Playhouse amphitheater to watch a special preview of the 2014 summer production, “The King and I,” as well as go on a tour of the stage area.

July 8 – 11 a.m. : Noah’s Little Ark Petting Zoo – Rick will bring his wonderful animals back and will also bring a pony for rides in our backyard.

July 15 – 11 a.m. : T.A.G. Animals from Tennessee Aquarium – Bill Haley comes back for a second program and brings some interesting specimens to show the children.

July 22 – 11 a.m. : Chattanooga Zoo – The Chattanooga Zoo makes its first visit to our summer line-up with a special Fizz Boom Read program, complete with some live animals.

July 29 – 7 p.m. : Grand Finale and Pool Party – We will wrap up our Summer Reading Program with a swim party for participants and their families at the Signal Mountain Swimming Pool. The Library will treat all to ice cream and hand out prizes. Thanks to Lake Winnepesaukah, we will also give each participant a “two for one” coupon valid August 17 or August 24 at Lake Winnepesaukah, and we will hold a drawing for the grand prize of two free passes to Lake Winnie (must be present to win).
